Congregational Meeting – October 22

By | Attention

A congregational meeting has been called for Sunday, October 22, immediately following the Sunday worship service. The purpose is to consider receiving a grant awarded to United Christian Church for developing a full time ministry to students. All members are urged to attend.

The grant  is generous, and the grantor requests anonymity. The grant takes the form of $8,000 per month with the following designations:

  • $5,000 for a full time youth minister

  • $2,000 for support to the senior pastor to allow for supervision responsibilities

  • $1,000 for music support.

The gifts would be for 36 months, a three year time period for developing this ministry. The grantor has apparently visited our church and considers this fellowship capable of bringing quality ministry to the students within our reach. All members and friends are urged to pray guidance. The next step would require formal acceptance of the grant.

Sept 23 COVID Clinic Cancelled

By | Attention

The COVID Clinic regularly scheduled for Sept. 23 has been cancelled. The Clinic will resume at United Christian Church on Saturday, October 14.

The change has come about to allow a shift to the new vaccine. Where the current shot protects against two variants of the virus, the virus has moved on. The new vaccine will target the variant that is responsible for a larger (and growing) share of infections.

Family Game Night – September 2023 Version

By | Attention

The Sequence game is about to commence.

As good followers of Jesus Christ, we at United Christian Church love each other, care for one another, support one another, uphold one another in prayer…

…and we compete ruthlessly, going all out to WIN!

Well, that last one is not always true. But we do like to have fun, and we like to do so iin the company of people whom we know and love deeply. This is why Family Game Night is so important. We bring snacks. We bring board games. And yes, we do bring our A game into competition. But we do so with great fun because we know that ultimately what matters is the blessing of one another’s company.

The next Game Night is Friday, September 8, starting at 6:30 pm. Bring a snack. Bring a game. (Ken promises to bring another weird one.) Bring kids. Come join the family!

Movie Night / Message in the Movies

By | Attention

As summer approaches its end, we’re starting to have some fun linking up Sunday morning worship with Friday evening fun. It is the annual “Message in the Movies” sermon series. And that means that Friday night is Movie Night at United.

We’ll gather together in the parking lot at 7 pm. Bring your chairs and any tailgate comforts. Snacks will be there. And as the evening starts to daren, we will have a chance for family fun with a movie. The community is absolutely invited, so bring along anyone you think needs to have a fun evening!

Then on Sunday morning, Pastor King will preach a sermon built around what we watched in the movie. The gospel can be found in some strange places!

So join us on Fridays (beginning August 11) and on Sundays (beginning August 13) for fun, refreshment, fellowship, and faith.

July 30 Worship will be Virtual

By | Attention

We are always delighted when people come to worship in person with us. But unfortunately, we will not be here in the building on Sunday, July 30.

Our worship service will still take place at the regular 10:30 am hour. However, the service will be entirely virtual. You can find it on our Facebook or YouTube channels, or you can click to it from our media page.

Pastor King and Jackie will be in Louisville, attending the General Assembly of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Other members of the staff will also be out of town.

Again, there will be no service in the building on July 30. But we will be online at our regular time.

Back to School Picnic, August 6

By | Attention

As summer begins to wind down, we prepare for school to start once again. Once again our church will offer a backpack ministry at our Back to School Picnic, Sunday, August 6, following worship. ADULTS–if you are not meeting the students we help and serve, you are missing out! Stick around, share a meal, take part in the games, and be a model of love and mission for a new generation. Sometimes blessings show up in the simplest of gifts. Come share with us as we move to a new school year.
