Installation service for James King as pastor at United Christian Church Country Club Hills will take place as part of the 10:30 am Sunday morning worship on July 16. A catered lunch will follow.
The pandemic messed with a lot of activities, and one of them was the installation of our pastor. The installation service involves making formal covenants between pastor and congregation. The Illinois-Wisconsin region is represented in this exchange. The whole becomes a joyful celebration of ministry together in our community.
Please RSVP to United Christian Church (united@uccdoc.com) for the catered dinner.
As good followers of Jesus Christ, we at United Christian Church love each other, care for one another, support one another, uphold one another in prayer…
…and we compete ruthlessly, going all out to WIN!
Well, that last one is not always true. But we do like to have fun, and we like to do so iin the company of people whom we know and love deeply. This is why Family Game Night is so important. We bring snacks. We bring board games. And yes, we do bring our A game into competition. But we do so with great fun because we know that ultimately what matters is the blessing of one another’s company.
At the last Game Night, Whist and Sequence were the big games. Ken introduced a new, quick, and really weird version of Backgammon. And Stephanie vows never to lett married couples play on the same Sequence team.
The next Game Night is Friday, July 7, starting at 6:30 pm. Bring a snack. Bring a game. (Ken promises to bring another weird one.) Bring kids. Come join the family!
The trip to Shipsewanna this year was a success! The bus was FULL and everyone had a good time. Here are some pictures from the event. Thanks to Daphne for putting this together. Thanks to Verna for the pictures.
Our church will be sponsoring a bus trip to the Illinois State Fair in Springfield on August 15. We do this to have fun, but also to open up to others and invite them to join our delight. So–invite friends and neighbors. Celebrate the accomplishments of 4-H students and crafty adults. Lose yourself on a midway ride. Take the opportunity to eat something entirely unhealthy. (Or not!) And let’s just relax in one another’s good company. Details in the flyer.
It is true. Vacation Bible School is coming June 19 – 23. Already (April 30) we have 19 children registered, and we are epecting more! And so craft items are needed. We’re looking for things you happen to have around your house. Click on the video below for instructions.
The “Sermon 2.0” experiment went very, very well. And one of the side benefits was that people would come to worship ready for the particular scripture for the day. We’re not quite ready to have our Wednesday conversations, but we can put the scriptures up for the month ahead. Enjoy!
Vacation Bible School is coming, June 19-23, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm each day. We will need a lot of help with this mission to the children and families of our community. Call Cinnamon Pool at 708-514-2347 to register a child or to find out how you can help.
